Applications of Plant Plast

Plant Plast is used wherever material stays visible and should show character, on walls, in rooms, on furniture and in design-led projects. It's a panel material made from hemp shives that doesn't disappear behind a décor layer but becomes the surface itself. This page gives the overview: two fully developed application areas with their own detail pages, further fields we handle per project, and a short guide to which direction fits your plans.

Stool made of Plant Plast, furniture from hemp-shive material

The common thread: material that stays visible

However different the fields of use, the principle stays the same. Plant Plast is a design material, not an anonymous carrier under a foil. The hemp-shive structure stays visible and tactile; the surface is part of the design, not something to conceal. That shows where the material is at its best: where a surface is seen and touched and contributes to the effect of a room or object. Where material is meant to disappear anyway, hidden, purely functional, behind a décor layer, it's less the right choice. This honesty about suitability saves you detours.

What Plant Plast is well suited for, and what less so

So you can quickly judge whether a sample is worth it:

✓ Well suited

Visible interior surfaces and walls, feature and partition surfaces, furniture and object surfaces, exhibition, retail and display areas, wherever the material's appearance is part of the design.

— Less suited

Concealed, purely structural components, surfaces that will be foiled or painted over anyway, or uses that depend on a single technical figure alone. When in doubt, we assess suitability per project, honestly and without sales pressure.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers.

For Interiors & wall surfaces and Architecture & commercial interiors, yes, each with details and examples. Further fields such as furniture, exhibition/retail and product development we handle per project; dedicated pages are being added over time.

Often yes. What matters is less the industry than whether the surface stays visible and contributes to the design. Tell us about your plan, we'll assess suitability.

Most reliably on a sample: that way you judge surface, structure and feel yourself before going into detail. Request a sample or tell us about your project.
